RE: Funding for Co-Combustion (hydrogen-diesel) Heavy Duty Vehicles Dear Christina,
The Go Electric Program offers a suite of funding programs for vehicles in all classes including Heavy Duty fleet vehicles. Eligible vehicles include BEVs, PHEVs, and FCEVs; however there are no incentives available for the purchase of new hydrogen co-combustion vehicles.
Hydra Energy has consolidated a partnership with First Truck Centre to offer fleet customers new class 8 vehicles installed withHydra's hydrogen-diesel co-combustion technology prior to delivery. First Truck Centre is an official installer and maintenance provider in B.C. First Truck Centre is Western Canada's largest Canadian-owned group of Freightliner and Western Star dealerships with 12 locations across the region including Prince George.
Hydra's Internal Combustion Engine (HICE) technology enables co-combustion operation of hydrogen-diesel which results in the reduction of emissions by reducing diesel emissions by up to 40% with the goal of developing a 100% solution. Currently, the technology is only funded on used vehicles under the Clean B.C. Heavy Duty Vehicle Efficiency Program.
Given the high cost and limited availability of ZEVs for class 8 heavy haul applications, co-combustion plays an important role in transitioning vehicles to hydrogen and developing hydrogen fuelling infrastructure. Having funding available for new vehicles under a Go Electric program would expand the reach of low emission vehicles to a wider range of class 8 fleet customers and accelerate the reduction of transportation emissions.
We ask that hydrogen diesel class 8 vehiclesbecome eligible for funding under at least one of the CleanBC Go Electric programs.
Please do not hesitate to contactu s for further information.
