We’re the first to deliver commercial
hydrogen-diesel co-combustion
trucks on the road.

Everybody’s talking about hydrogen-powered trucking and its ability to help reduce emissions in an industry known for its significant environmental impact but as a commercial fleet, what options do you have right now that cost you nothing? And what options provide you with a reliable, local source of clean fuel at the same price as diesel?

Not only is hydrogen ideal for heavy-duty trucking but at Hydra, we believe scaling up locally sourced, low-carbon hydrogen – whether from Hydra or from a HaaS licensee - is the fastest path to the highest impact we can have on the environment. With our practical retrofit approach for your existing Class 8 trucks and our unique ability to connect regional hydrogen supply and demand specifically for commercia fleets and owner-operators, greenhouse (GHG) emissions can be reduced as much as 40% per truck right now transitioning to 100% down the road. Imagine that. An instant sustainable fleet at no cost to you.

Why Hydrogen is Ideal for Heavy-Duty Trucking

  • Meaningfully reduces GHG emissions

  • Provides the high torque and power needed for traction and heavy payloads

  • Doesn’t add the weight of heavy batteries that reduce payload and revenue

  • Works in cold temperatures

  • Refuels as quickly as diesel

  • Involves free diesel truck conversions & locally sourced, low-carbon hydrogen fuel priced the same as diesel (with Hydra’s approach)

  • May attract younger, environmentally conscious drivers

What is Hydrogen-as-a-Service (HaaS)?

We’re uniquely able to decarbonize heavy-duty trucks today due to our innovative approach connecting existing low-carbon hydrogen supply and demand in a way that helps companies monetize their hydrogen and commercial fleets secure local, long-term fuel contracts at diesel-equivalent prices with no up-front investment. Here’s how it works.

What Does the Truck Conversion Involve?

Our practical approach involves local fleet dealerships and trusted mechanic shops retrofitting existing heavy-duty trucks – at no cost to you - with a proprietary hydrogen-diesel, co-combustion conversion kit that is fully reversible and does not negatively impact truck performance, warranty, or service agreements. In fact, our over 300,000 kms (185,000 miles) of on-road testing with professional drivers on commercial routes in some of the most challenging winter conditions proved no loss in power, payload, torque, or range while reducing emissions up to 40% per truck. Within just a few days, your truck will be able to use low-carbon hydrogen fuel to produce 40% of the required power demand with the ability to seamlessly switch back to diesel if the hydrogen runs out. To support your converted fleet, we also pay to install the low-carbon hydrogen fuelling station which fills the hydrogen tanks on the truck as fast as diesel.

  • H2 gas handling components behind
    or under cab.

  • H2 injection manifold in-line with air intake blends H2 and air before entering engine block, NO engine modification.

  • Dedicated controller and wiring harness behind the dashboard (ECU), NO interception/modification of OEM ECU messages.

What Makes for an Ideal Hydrogen-as-a-Service Customer?

1

Right now, return-to-base trucks running less than 1,000 km round trips in and around Prince George, BC and Edmonton, Alberta. If you have a large fleet demand outside of these areas, please contact us as more sites will be available soon through Hydra and our licensees.

2

Freightliner, Western Star, Peterbilt, Volvo or Mack trucks

3

Trucks that use DD15, DD16, or PACCAR engines

If this sounds like you, let’s talk about how we can decarbonize your truck(s) with limited risk and no up-front investment! And if you’re not located in northern B.C. or around Edmonton, let’s chat anyways about when our licensees could be active in your region.

4

Trucks that have a minimum distance of 29 inches between the end of the cab and the fifth wheel for our hydrogen tank rack.

Our Fleet Partners

We’re proud to work with some of the most forward-thinking commercial fleets in Western Canada who saw the unique opportunity to immediately reduce their truck emissions using locally sourced hydrogen fuel with zero up-front investment. No new trucks required. No infrastructure to pay for. No increase in fuel costs. No reduction in payload capacity or route range. Regardless of where you might be located, we’d love to hear from you if you’re looking for the unique benefits of our Hydrogen-as-a-Service.

I really dug deep into Hydra, and I really love their model only because it was a way we can take an existing combustion engine, and we can readily convert all of our trucks in a very short period of time. We also got no range anxiety. If we run out of hydrogen, it goes 100% back to diesel.
